The world renowned start-up accelerator TechStars is to launch a programme in London, its first outside the US, the entrepreneurs behind the venture fund announced today. HarGamma Ventures has been one of the Springboard’s investors and would now continue the cooperation by investing in TechStars London.
In a meeting at No 10, TechStars CEO David Cohen and General Partner Mark Solon confirmed TechStars are expanding their network outside of the US by merging with Springboard, co-founded by Jon Bradford, to launch in London the globally renowned TechStars mentorship-driven investment programme. Launching in March, TechStars London is expected to support up to 20 start-ups annually across the UK, Europe and further afield through an investment of €85,000, being €15,000 of seed funding and an optional €70,000 convertible debt note for each company.
TechStars already have a strong track record working with European teams, with their alumni including Memrise (UK), GrabCAD (Estonian) and docTrackr (France) who have cumulatively raised €16m of investment funds. (more…)

The following publication touches on public procurement for the supply of support services for IT systems. The analysis touches on the orders, which where announced in the Tenders Electronic Daily from the 1st of January to the 31st December 2007. Our experts analysed 90 orders worth 699,55 mln PLN.This document mainly examines the mode in which public bodies ordered the previously mentioned services. As it turned out, in more than 80% of the cases of Polish orders, the ordering entities reached agreement with the companies chosen by them, omitting the procedures allowing suppliers to compete in competitive tenders.
This publication is a summary of a study conducted by specialists from our company in cooperation with eBay.pl representatives.This report aims to inform on the savings that any customer can achieve when switching from regular and online shops or local online auction portals to eBay. The results leave no room for doubt that purchasing over eBay not only gives customers the possibility to buy various and rare products, but also that this form of shopping is the least expensive in the case of a majority products covered in the study.
The report compares four sales channels: brick&mortar shops, internet shops, the Polish internet auction platform Allegro.pl and eBay.pl.
The results show, that average savings for 48 analysed products amounted to 30% in eBay’s favor (compared to all other sales channels). In comparison to traditional shops, purchasing on eBay allows for a staggering 45% savings.
